Have you ever worried that robots may be able to edit video one day?  Are you excited about the possibility of a computer being able to edit video?  Either way, that day has come.

A new app called Shred Video is just that.  Using an AI computer algorithm, Shred Video edits together action video for you with just the input of some clips and a music track.

Available for Apple products, Shred Video takes you from raw material to finished product in 4 simple steps.  Just import your video and music you want to use, choose your highlights from the video and let Shred do the rest.

Shred is angled towards action footage -- like the stuff you would see in a GoPro ad, but it is not difficult to think this technology can someday soon take on much more challenging and nuanced tasks.  While many editors may not see this as a good thing, it is yet another example of how technology is distrupting the video industry and creating new ways for you to make professional quality product without having to spend a lot of money.

Good or bad, you be the judge, but the AI is here, and it's only the beginning.

Check out Shred Video.

For most of human history, people lived in a world without news. The concept simply did not exist. The idea of news is really a 19th-century phenomenon, driven first by newspapers, and then by electronic media which brought us radio, then TV and now the web. Not because the technology is not there, but rather because, increasingly, people are no longer interested in news, at least in the way it is packaged now.

What TV News Could Be
February 26, 2024

When television was invented in the 1930s, no one knew what TV news was supposed to look like. The medium had never existed before, and so, like Gutenberg half a millennium, prior, the first creators of TV news had to fall back on a medium with which they were familiar, and that was radio.

Maybe scary stories drive ratings… or maybe they don’t.
