The Holiday Season is upon us. It's time to start thinking about (and buying) some gifts for the people in your life. Whether you are looking for a gift for a friend, family members, or yourself, we have some great ideas for you here at VJ. One such gift is the Case Logic SLRC-206 SLR Camera Backpack.

If you are a video producer, chances are you have a lot of gear, and to go along with that gear you'll need a good backpack. Every video producer needs a safe and easy way to get their gear from shoot to shoot. Now, if you are working with a smartphone, the amount of gear you'll need to bring will be much less and aside form carrying the phone in your pocket you can put everything else in a fanny pack if you wanted to, but if you are still working with a DSLR or other larger cameras, then you need a great backpack.

You can't just use any backpack for camera gear -- well you can, but if you just pile everything into your standard backpack soon enough your gear is going to break. You need something that is designed for camera equipment and will keep it safe in transit. The Case Logic SLRC-206 SLR Camera Backpack is that bag.

There are plenty of camera bags out there at different price points so you can find one that suits your needs specifically, but we like this one from Case Logic for a few important reasons. Most importantly is how it stores the camera. It has dedicated space for SLR cameras with or without the lens, and can be fitted for other kinds of cameras. The bag uses a hammock system to suspend your camera above the bottom of case, so that it is well protected from any drops or impacts. After that there is still a huge amount of room for all kinds of accessories like microphones, wires and more. Additionally, it has a pocket for laptops and straps on the side for your tripod. The bag also has memory foam lining and a waterproof shell to ensure that everything in there is safe.

You can buy it from Amazon for $60 here.

There is a great deal of concern, well placed, that few people under the age of 30 watch TV news. Viewership of TV news in general has fallen off, so naturally, TV executives across the boards are searching for a solution. How to appeal to a demographic that spends most of their time on social media?

Sometimes when you are searching for something, the answer is right before your eyes. For years, I have been looking for a new and powerful way to cover breaking news stories - and now, I think, I've got it.

When we run our video storytelling bootcamps for TV news organizations, our primary focus is on what we call ‘the viewer experience’. It is a given that the journalism is well researched and accurate, but if no one is watching; if there is no ‘audience engagement’ with the story, then you are in fact showing it to no one, which is tragic, and avoidable.
