EmailSXSW is going on in Austin, Texas right now and it is one of the year's premiere film, music and arts festivals. If you can't make it out to Texas for the festival this year you can still watch shorts and music videos from the festival thanks to Vimeo's Streaming @ SXSW playlist.
We always say to learn and take from the best. You will see some work of the best independant video producers out there at SXSW. Whether you want to make music videos, short films or not you can always learn something about framining, editing or just get inspiriation from other works, especially those that are in festivals. For most of human history, people lived in a world without news. The concept simply did not exist. The idea of news is really a 19th-century phenomenon, driven first by newspapers, and then by electronic media which brought us radio, then TV and now the web. Now, it seems, we are headed back to a world without news. Not because the technology is not there, but rather because, increasingly, people are no longer interested in news, at least in the way it is packaged now.
